PIFF Special Event Filmmaker Panels

WEDNESDAY
12:30 PM - 2:30 PM Are Documentary Films Changing our Democracies?
Harry Litwack of Harry Litwack Productions leads an active discussion with a panel of filmmakers, newspaper and television reporters. Panelists include Joe Barber and Mary Patel (co-producers/directors of the political documentary "Electile Dysfunction") and Bob Bowden ("The Cartel", a film about education in America). Discussion will be followed by a Q & A session.

THURSDAY
1:30 PM - 3:00 PM Producing an Independent Film in Philadelphia
Producers Patricia Weiser & Nicholas Simon, currently filming "The Best & The Brightest" (starring Neil Patrick Harris & Chris McDonald) will inform us of their on-going experiences producing in Philadelphia.

Moving Camera Lecture with Garrett Brown
Garrett Brown, inventor of the Steadicam and Skycam will present his highly regarded, video-illustrated 'Moving Camera' lecture, followed by an extensive Q&A regarding his work on nearly a hundred movies, including Rocky and The Shining.

12:00 PM - 2:30 PM Filmmakers "Jam" and Open Mic Q&A
Join invited filmmakers including Tai Parquet & JJ Garvine (Keeping The Peace), Harvey Hubbell V (Dislecksia: The Movie), Bob Bowden (The Cartel) and others to share their experiences in making their independent films. Share experiences, insights, questions and answers.

SATURDAY
10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Ins and Outs of Film Acting
Mike Lemon of Mike Lemon Casting will moderate an active panel discussion concerning the ins and outs of Film Acting and increasing opportunities in and around the Philadelphia Region with actors and Rick McKiddy of SAG.

3:00 PM - 4:30 PM Transitioning from Film School to Professional Film Work
David Boorboor of Eye in the Sky Entertainment moderates a panel of film school graduates from Temple, Rowan, Philadelphia Art Institute and NYU about their personal, professional and educational experiences and choices. Panelist scheduled include: Louis Pecsi, Michael Crawford, David Alan Ruth, Joseph Nafto and Jacquelyn Moses.

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM Dyslecksia: The Movie with Q&A
Following a screening of "Dyslexia: The Movie", there will be a panel discussion moderated by the film's Director Harvey Hubbell V. The Panel will feature cutting edge thinking on dyslexia with educators, psychologists, psychiatrists (child & adolescent), writers & a rep from the PA branch of the International Dyslexia Association.

SUNDAY
12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Q&A with Academy Award Nominee John Dilworth
Academy Award nominated director John R Dilworth is a New York-based animation director and designer whose work has appeared on HBO, FOX, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, MTV, Canal +, and Arte, as well as the Museum of Modern Art, and the Guggenheim Museum in New York City. He has produced thirteen award-winning independent and sponsored films, which have screened around the world, including "The Dirty Birdy," "The Chicken From Outer Space," and "Life in Transition." Dilworth is also the creator of the top-rated Cartoon Network series, "Courage the Cowardly Dog."
